All benefits in using essential oils

Do you know Aromatherapy? It is considered a branch of phytotherapy that uses Essential Oils, that is the strongly smelling substances of plants.

The Essential Oils are pure and distilled essences that are extracted from the fruit, peel, twigs, leaves or flowers of a plant and since they are very concentrated substances, they should preferably be diluted in a sweet almond oil, possibly organic and squeezed cold.

They can be inhaled by means of diffusers or mixed with other ingredients to create room sprays. I’ll show you a brief overview of the main possible uses of Essential Oils as natural remedies.

I’m sure you can not do without it 😉

I make a premise: in case you want to use them for your children, during pregnancy or as oral medications, you use the precautions !!!

Relieves headaches. The most suitable aromas for relieving headaches are: Lavender, Mint and Ginger. Dilute the essences with carrier oil and apply the solution on the forehead, temples and back area of the neck, massaging it on the skin with gentle circular movements, while inhaling deeply.

Treat acne. To prepare a natural anti-acne treatment add 5 drops of Melaleuca essential oil to one teaspoon of Aloe Vera gel. Mix the two ingredients and apply the mixture on the areas affected by the acne with your fingertips or a cotton swab. Keep the mixture in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Treat insomnia. Essential oils do not cure insomnia or the underlying cause, but taking advantage of their calming and relaxing action before going to sleep can help to quickly fall into the arms of Morpheus.

The best three Essential Oils against insomnia are the Lavender which promotes relaxation, the Chamomile which is a natural sedative, and the Clary Sage which has narcotic properties.

Before going to bed try to take a warm bath and add a couple of drops of these Essential Oils in the water or if you use a diffuser in the room, add a few drops of Lavender, Chamomile or Sage oil before going to bed.

N.B. Some essential oils, such as Rosemary, Cypress, Grapefruit, Lemon and Mint are particularly energizing and stimulating, so you should avoid them before going to bed.

Relieves stress. Essential Oils are used more to promote emotional well-being, reducing stress and triggering calm and tranquility. These products have a positive effect on our emotions because the human olfactory receptors are directly connected to the limbic system of the brain, the area dedicated to emotions, memory and sexual excitement.

The set includes 8 essential oils: sweet orange, citronella, incense, tea tree, peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus and lavender.

Remove insects. A concentrated solution of Eucalyptus citrate oil is a perfect alternative to repellent products that you buy at the supermarket (full of chemicals) to keep away the annoying bugs.

To prepare the natural repellent, mix 30 ml of carrier oil with the same amount of Hamamelis, 50 drops of essential oil of Eucalyptus citrate, 10 drops of Lavender oil, 10 drops of cedar oil and 10 drops of Rosemary oil. Mix all the ingredients and transfer them to a spray bottle. Shake well before applying the product.

As a prevention for lice. My friends Silvia, Monica and Camilla, advised me to add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in to the shampoo or as a shock treatment two drops of Tea Tree Oil behind the ears, every morning before taking the child to childcare.

As a prevention for vaginal infections. Always Silvia advised me to add a few drops of Tea Tree in to the intimate cleanser to prevent infections like candida.

Limit vertigo and nausea. The Mint is used to treat nausea and vertigo, because it contains menthol, mentile acetate and mentone, three components that are responsible for the refreshing and invigorating effect of Mint.

When vertigo is felt, drop a few drops of Mint oil on a cotton ball or tissue and sniff it. There are other oils you can use to find relief from vertigo: Cypress, Basil, Myrtle, Lavender, Ginger, Rose, Rosemary and Mandarin.

Relief from sunburn. The most suitable for analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties are Lavender oil, of Helichrysum, of Rosa. The most effective method of application is to mix the oil with aloe vera gel (a drop of oil for a teaspoon of gel) and spread it directly on the scalded area.

Nasal congestion. Eucalyptus oil helps to release the sinuses. To prepare a natural topical decongestant, mix the Eucalyptus oil with a carrier oil (3-5 drops in a teaspoon of oil) and apply it in small quantities under the nose or on the chest. Or add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in the humidifier or diffuser.

To perfume the home. Pour some water into the upper cup of the diffuser and then add a few drops of the Essential Oil that you prefer, the scent will emanate throughout the room.

Or pour Essential Oil into the candle wax. Light the candle and wait a couple of minutes for the wax to melt a little. Turn it off and drop a few drops of oil on the melted wax before relighting the candle with caution. Be careful not to impregnate the oil wick, as it is highly flammable.
